Christian Aid Supports Over-Congested Mtsiliza Primary School With PPEs

A Lilongwe based; Mtsiliza Primary School that has over six thousand students says it is failing to enforce some covid-19 preventive measures like social distancing due to congestion.

Headteacher of the school, Fredrick Chiphaka has since appealed to well-wishers to provide the school with tents, so that when schools reopen students can learn in a conducive environment saying covid-19 has affected operation at the facility.

"We have a covid-19 situation before us which we are failing to manage."

Chiphaka added that "we also need sanitary facilitation because the school has a high enrolment rate, which poses more threats of the pandemic."

Meanwhile, Christian Aid has made available covid-19 preventive materials worth K6 million to the school.

Christian Aid, Programs Coordinator Doreen Thom said after consulting Ministry of Education officials and other partners in the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene sector in Lilongwe they recommended we reach out to highly congested Mtsiliza Primary School in Lilongwe with sanitary facilities.

Said Thom, "we want to lessen the impact that the pandemic has on the education sector hence reaching out to the over-congested school in town.”

The donated materials include hand sanitizers, face masks, thermometers, buckets, and basins for handwashing liquid soap to mention but a few.
