Ntcheu DHO Calls For Support to Combat COVID19

Ntcheu District Health Office says it has limited resources in the fight against COVID19 pandemic and requires urgent help from partners.

Director of Health and Social Services, Dr. Stephen Macheso says with the district hospital's emergency treatment centre bed capacity now increased from three to 20, more oxygen cylinders beside other medical supplies are needed to effectively manage COVID19 patients.

"Resources to reinforce on-going efforts against COVID19 are limited.

"With the increase of bed capacity at its COVID19 treatment centre, resources are urgently in need.

"The bed capacity has been increased from three to 20. And on Saturday, seven COVID19 patients were in admittance," Dr. Macheso said.

Dr. Macheso said this on Saturday when the district hospital received oxygen concentrators from Ntcheu District Initiative which according to a representative of the grouping Kingsley Gwaza are valued at 4.1 Million Kwacha.

Meanwhile, Inkosi ya Makhosi Gomani V has pledged to mobilize his subjects in combating myths communities have over the disease and likely to contribute to a rise in local transmission cases.

As of Saturday, 6 February, Ntcheu district has 218 COVID19 active cases, 92 recoveries, and seven deaths.
