Suicide Cases Rising; 270 Died 2020 Alone
270 people have committed suicide in this country between January to December 2020 alone with an average of 22 people per month a sharp rise from about 178 cases last in 2019.
Speaking to Zodiak online Sunday, National Police Deputy Spokesperson, Peter Kalaya has attributed the rise in suicide cases to infidelity.
"Central West Region is topping the list with 81 suicide cases, Eastern region registered the least number of 9 cases.
"Infidelity is contributing to people committing suicide," Kalaya said.
Psychologist, Ndumanene Silungwe believes raising awareness on mental health-related issues is key in addressing the problem.
In 2019, the country registered 178 suicide cases.
