Man, 30, Arrested For Allegedly Murdering His Daughter
A 30-year-old Kasungu man identified as Emmanuel Shawa is in the cooler for allegedly defiling and murdering his six-year-old biological daughter.
Kasungu Police spokesperson, Inspector Edna Mzingwitsa says police suspect the man committed the offense at Maswani village in the area of Chief Winne in the district.
"It is alleged that the deceased's mother went to the farm and the deceased was left at home with her father who has a mental disorder.
Shawa defiled the child before he assaulted her with a hammer on the head and she died on the spot," said Mzingwitsa.
Police say when the mother came back, her husband told her that he had slaughtered a chicken and it was in the house.
But the woman was shocked to find her lifeless daughter in a pool of blood.
A medical report confirmed that the child was defiled before her murder and the cause of death was head injuries.
Mzingwitsa says the suspect is charged with murder and is expected to undergo a mental examination.
