The Roads Fund Administration (RFA) says full completion of Chingeni Toll Plaza in Ntcheu awaits installation of ICT equipment and currently in transit from South Africa before road tolling can commence.

However, RFA Spokesperson, Masauko Mngwaluko told Zodiak Online Tuesday in Ntcheu after meeting Police Officers there that with September next month as a proposed month to roll out road tolling at Chingeni, awareness among surrounding communities and motorists is now key for successful implementation of the same.

"Works for Chingeni Toll Plaza in Ntcheu is 98% complete. What remains now is fixing of computerized gadgets that have been procured in South Africa and expected to arrive next week in the country," said Mngwaluko.

He however said with road tolling nearing commencement, awareness to surrounding communities on the same is crucial now.

Malawi Police Service, National Community Policing Coordinator, Obrey Nyirenda says the law enforcers are ready to raise the much-needed awareness to enhance security at the facility.

"Law enforcers are committed to raising awareness on road tolling. We will work 24/7 to provide security, vending surrounding the area will not be entertained.

Once road tolling commences, RFA says it expects to wreck in a combined 5 billion Kwacha annually for Chingeni Toll Plaza in Ntcheu and Kalinyeke Tollgate in Dedza.
