EU Hails Chakwera For Efforts In Curbing Corruption

The new European Union Ambassador Rune Skinnebach has commended president Lazarus Chakwera for his commitment to curb corruption in the country.

Speaking as he presented his letters of credence to President Lazarus Chakwera on Tuesday, Skinnebach said the country's leadership is so far doing well in rooting out corruption especially in the public sector.

The ambassador further committed to render support in eradicating Corruption in the country.

“We share a common vision and join forces to make a more just, inclusive, climate-smart and multilateral world emerge,” the envoy said.

Ambassador Skinnebach further said the EU will for the next seven years work hand in hand with the national planning commission so that Malawi fulfills the Malawi Vision 2063 development agenda stating it is in line with programs of the EU.

The ambassador also committed to building collaborations that can deal with global challenges so that the EU and Malawi can achieve a common goal.

The envoy served as Deputy Head of the European External Service Action, Pan African Affairs Division and also served as the Deputy Head of the European External Service Action Human Resource Policy Division.

Skinnebach has replaced Sandra Paesaen who was called back by the EU in 2019 barely a year after assuming the role.
