Min of Education Close Unregistered Private School in Ntcheu
At least 50 students expected to sit for this year's Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) and Malawi School Certificate of Education examinations at Favour Private Secondary School in Ntcheu are helpless and stranded following the closure of the institution by the Ministry of Education.
The school's Headteacher, Emmanuel Ezekiel Chisale told Zodiak Online that they are surprised with the decision hence having no immediate clue to addressing the issue at hand.
"At first, the Ministry was supposed to engage us so that we rectify the challenges raised. We are helpless and stranded as the fate of our national examinations candidates now hangs in balance," he said.
However, Spokesperson for the Ministry, Chikondi Chimala said the school in question was not registered besides operating from unauthorized premises hence the closure.
"We will allow the school to operate once they find a proper place to open the school and get it registered," he said.
He added that the Ministry continues to undertake inspections across the country to bring sanity to the education sector.
Meanwhile, a concerned form Four student Triza Sekani has told us closure of the school has left many of them helpless at a time they are preparing for national examinations.
