Liu who is being accused of being found in possession of a specimen of listed species in Lilongwe.
Particulars of the case are indicating that on August, 27th this year in Lilongwe’s Area 47, Liu is was found in possession of 13 processed ivory pieces and five pieces of raw ivory weighing 10.250 kilograms valued at 9.2 million kwacha.
In his judgement Friday, Chief Resident Patrick Chirwa said there is substantive evidence that the suspect was found in possession of the species and that the offense is serious.
Chirwa said the case would be back in court on 23rd September.
On its part, the state has indicated that there are more disclosures on the matter to be made.
Meanwhile, defense lawyer Chipiliro Moyo has told Zodiak Online that a plea could not be taken immediately without the said disclosures mostly when the accused needs to be guided on what move to make next.
