During the meeting, Minister of Gender, disability, and Social Welfare Dr. Patricia Kaliyati said Malawi is struggling to strengthen the set social protection systems despite having policy frameworks.
Dr. Kaliyati attributed this to high poverty and illiteracy levels.
The program aims at assisting Malawi in the reduction of those vulnerable to food insecurity by 2022.
With 2022 just a few months away, United Nations Resident Coordinator Maria Jose Torres said Malawi has strong policy frameworks but the challenge is on the implementation citing the need to materialize the frameworks.
