Minister of health, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda is upbeat, the just-launched campaign drive on COVID19 vaccination will increase the number of fully vaccinated individuals.

Chiponda during the launch of the campaign dubbed “Covid19 Vaccination Express” at Chinsapo UNICEF ground in Lilongwe said the aim behind the two-month-long exercise is to take the COVID19 vaccine closer to people in all the 29 districts.

Minister Chiponda implored other stakeholders to work in collaboration with government in mobilization and civic education programs on the importance of the jab.

“For the two months period, we are looking at not less than over 1 million Malawians who will be vaccinated between now and the end of December,” she said.

Commenting on the launched campaign, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF’s) HIV and Maternal and Neonatal Child Health Manager, Steve Okokwu implored on government to put priority on vaccination and mobilization programs saying this is the only way to minimize further spread of the pandemic.

“Accelerate the uptake especially now that Malawi has increased the uptake and we do not want that any doses should expire and we know that these vaccines cost a lot of money and we do not want to waste them”

As of Friday, 5th November, 550 thousand 444 people were fully vaccinated of COVID19.
