Malawi’s Covid19 Certificates Approved By UK
Malawi has now been listed among countries whose COVID19 certificates are approved by the UK.
The Ministry of Health has described the approval as a great milestone hoping it will turn the tide towards the uptake of the COVID19 vaccine while in the long run building confidence among people.
“Malawi has always had a very robust and efficient administration immunization programme that WHO has recognized over the years and so now that the UK is also recognizing our COVID19 certificates is exciting,” said the ministry of health’s public relations officer, Adrian Chikumbe.

Malawi Health Equity Network (MHEN) Executive Director, George Jobe is on the other hand cautioning against vaccination status fraud including bribery to get a COVID19 certificate.
Jobe fears growing tactics by people who use various means to escape public health laws.
“There should be some ways wherein the system it must show who has done the test, where and who has approved so that we safeguard this opportunity we have and there should not be any point where our certificates shall lose authenticity,” said Jobe.
The recognition reverses a policy by the UK of not recognizing COVID19 certificates from Africa which health rights activists expressed worry created more reluctance towards vaccines.
