NRB Procures New ID Printers

The National Registration Bureau (NRB) has procured three medium printing machines to speed up the citizen registration process across the country after numerous concerns emerged on delays in the renewal and replacement of the National Identity Cards.

NRB Spokesperson, Norman Fulatila, told Zodiak Online that the machines, procured in October 2021, arrived in the country on Tuesday 8 February.

He said delivery of the machines was delayed due to global sourcing challenges.

According to Fulatira, aside from the printers, NRB also plans to buy a printer that will be producing National IDs at high speed and in large amounts.

“Apart from these printers, we have budgeted for a high-volume printer in the 2022–2023 national budget which will greatly assist in reducing demand for national ID processing,” Fulatira said.

Fulatira disclosed that by December last year NRB had processed ID records for renewal only in excess of one million.
