Brutal Killings Wake up Call For Security Agencies-Expert

Security expert Sherrif Kaisi, says brutal killings of an official of the Malawi Revenue Authority and lawyer Kajani Banda, registered in the past two weeks, should act as a wake-up call for authorities, to address security challenges in the country.

In an interview with Zodiak Online yesterday, Kaisi said security institutions, need to take a holistic approach in dealing with this, saying the challenge, has the potential to affect many sectors.

Kaisi said the cases are a clear indication, that the country is going through some security challenges, that needs swift attention.

The security expert also proposes that the approach in dealing with security gaps should be holistic, to ensure the lives of all people in the country are protected.

"Security has different dimensions, for example giving them security personnel to escort them where ever they are going or making sure they are driving official vehicles," he said.

Meanwhile, legal expert Justin Dzonzi, has proposed that government should also consider beefing up security for other public officers who risk lives in discharging their duties, apart from Malawi Revenue Authority officials.

"There are a lot of public officials who risk their lives daily, in trying to make things work for this country, it is only fair and proper that such officials should be protected," said Dzonzi.

He was reacting to what Minister of Homeland Security, Jean Sendeza, said recently, that police will provide additional security officers for MRA officials following the death of Bonongwe.
