Through a one-year project called Sustainable HIV/AIDS Impact Reduction with support from Egmont Trust, the organization has distributed 40 goats, 38 piglets, and 250 chickens to benefit families.

The organization’s Director Lemani Ngaiyaye says the support is to caution targeted families from the impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic so that they ably sustain daily needs.

“HIV/AIDS pandemic has wreaked havoc to many families thereby affecting their daily livelihoods. However, as an organization we feel duty-bound to support such families to caution them from the impact of the pandemic,” he said.

Ngaiyaye revealed the benefiting households have already acquired skills to ably manage the livestock.

One of the beneficiaries Emelesi Chilakalaka from Dzoole village says she struggles to support her son in secondary school, and that the livestock donation is a timely relief.

“I have a son who is in form one but I struggle to support her due to economic hardships, This donation is timely,” she said.

While GVH Dzoole says by-laws have been already formulated to sustain the livestock, Kwataine Area Development Committee Chairperson, Clement Mwanza urged the families to make good use of them for their benefit.
