Airtel Africa Sales Airtel MW Tower
Airtel Africa has sold Airtel Malawi Towers to Helios Towers a UK-based telecommunications company at a tune of 54.7 million dollars, which is close to 44 billion Kwacha.
An inside source who did not want his identity revealed has told us that the sale will see Airtel Malawi leasing the tower assets from the purchaser.
The move was made in the just ended week and the tower has been sold at 44 billion kwacha.
Airtel Malawi Public Relations Officer Norah Chavura Chirwa requested more time before commenting on the development.
However, Information Communication and cyber security Expert Paul Katema believes the move is an opportunity for network coverage expansion in the country.
Airtel Africa has coverage in 14 African Countries.
The development is coming barely a month after, Airtel Africa made the same move on its Tanzanian Tower asset which was sold at 176.1 Million dollars.
