Mobility Challenges Affecting Community Assistants

Government has conceded that mobility challenges is one major factor affecting service delivery among community development assistants in Cassava processing and value addition.

Deputy Minister of Gender Agnes Nkusa Nkhoma, made the sentiments today in Lilongwe when German Government through GIZ handed over 10 motorcycles worthy 37 million kwacha to Malawi Government.

"The donation will assist the extension workers to engage beneficiaries in the hard to reach areas in the long run empowering smallholder farmers," Nkusa Nkhoma said.

Taking her turn GIZ Team Leader on Green Innovation Projects Alexandra Farrington said the donation comes on the sidelines of existing mobility challenges among most farmers in Malawi.

"It is very important for Malawi Government to increase productivity and incomes of Malawian smallholder farmers with well defined policy direction," Farrington said.

The GIZ Green Innovation Project was under the Germany Government was introduced to increase income, production, and productivity among smallholder farmers with emphasis on women and youths.
