Chilumpha told us his ten-point plan for the country in readiness for the 2025 presidential poll, adding that Malawians need a really inclusive country, which only he can make possible, having served the country in different capacities, and never disappointed.

The former vice president who is president for the Assembly for Democracy and Development-ADD has told us the country needs his experience, especially now that others have been tried, but have failed to deliver their promises.

He says, “My experience and the good record in the affairs of government as vice president is all that Malawians need at the moment, and time for putting trust in wrong people is over.”

Chilumpha continued that despite that some of the ADD’s points are similar to those that others may have promised, experience in the state affairs matters, thus Malawians should trust that he will turn around the challenges they have encountered for years.

Meanwhile, a political expert Victor Chipofya says Chilumpha is a qualified citizen, but wonders what he would do that he did not when he served as Veep.

Chipofya further says considering it has become the order of the day for politicians to promise things they fail to fulfil upon ascending onto the high office, it is proper to carefully examine individual politicians.

“It has become a norm and order of the day for politicians to promise what they fail to deliver once they ascend to the high office. Chilumpha is within his rights and qualified as a citizen to contest, but the question is what difference he will bring that he did not, having served in several capacities, including as vice president,” Chilumpha said.

“Malawians need a leader who shows he can help the country even before holding any position. As for him, what went wrong during his time, and what changed now,” he adds.

According to Chilumpha, his party intends to make the government a servant of the people, eradicate corruption and nepotism, as well as provide care to the elderly and physically challenged, among the ten points which will be announced during a launch shortly.

Chilumpha served as state vice president between 2004 to 2009, besides serving as member of parliament and cabinet minister, before forming his political party in 2015.
