Timvekeni Initiative has dressed 120 pupils at Chisimbwi Primary School in Ntcheu by providing clothes and shoes owing to the areas harsh hot weather conditions.

Pioneer for the initiative, Elias Matope has told Zodiak Online that they were compelled to assist the learners as a majority were walking barefooted.

“A majority of the learners are coming from families with poor financial base. Many were going to school barefooted and without proper clothing,” he said.

He said 2 million kwacha which is a contribution from well-wishers enabled the initiative to reach out to the learners.

Meanwhile, Headteacher for the school, Ruth Khembo Khoko and one of the beneficiaries, a standard 6 learner, Memory Victor says the assistance is timely.

Since August this year, the initiative has now dressed 700 learners in two primary schools of Chisimbwi and Sharpevalle in the district.
