In a statement dated 13th December 2022 Chairperson of the commission which was instituted by President Lazarus Chakwera, retired justice Edward Twea hints that key witnesses have already been summoned.

CSAT Executive Director Willy Kambwandira and governance commentator Victor Chipofya have all described the move as a waste of tax payers money since government is aware of the key suspects in the matter.

"We have a problem in the utilization of such commissions of inquiry and the approach has failed the country to properly follow pertinent issues," Kambwandira said.

For Victor Chipofya the step taken will just push government to spend taxpayers money as it has been with other inquires.

"We need to critically trace those that breached the line of command for the ACB boss to be arrested than instituting a special committee on the matter," Chipofya added.

The arrest of Chizuma attracted condemnation from various quarters including the country's donor partners.
