ECM Appoints Fr Mtseka as New Secretary General
The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) has appointed Father Valeriano Michael Mtseka as the new Secretary General with effect from 1st August 2023.
Fr Mtseka replaces Very Reverend Father Alfred Mateyu Chaima who was appointed Bishop of Zomba Diocese last month.
In a statement signed by the outgoing ECM Secretary General Fr Chaima says at the conclusion of the plenary session of the year which started from Monday June 26th to Friday June 30th 2023, bishops resolved to appoint Fr Mtseka.
Fr. Mtseka who was ordained priest in 2005, served as a rector at Mzimu Woyera Minor Seminary.
He then went for studies at St John Paul II Pontifical Theological Institute for Marriage and Family Sciences in India, graduated with a Licentiate in Sacred Theology for Marriage and Family Sciences.
Upon his return home, he was appointed National Coordinator for Family Apostolate of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi.
Fr Mtseka was appointed ECM Deputy Secretary General in 2019, a position he has held until his recent appointment
Fr. Mtseka born on November 8, 1974, hails from Chithumba Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chapananga Chikwawa District.
