MEC Commissioner Francis Kasaira said he is aware that the officers have their political affiliations, but they need to abide by their code of conduct.

"As MEC we are an institution that follows the country's laws and therefore we need these people to be providing credible information to people regarding the exercise and avoid being partisan at the same time," he said.

He made the call on Friday at Mponela in Dowa after training the officers.

A participant Jester Nyirenda from Mchinji South Constituency told Zodiak that they will make sure that they work according to MEac's instructions.

"We will try to make sure that we are not taking sides when working as instructed by the commissioner and this will happen for sure," said Nyirenda.

The Newly recruited Constituency Civic Education and Voter Registration Assistants have were drawn from Ntchisi, Kasungu and Karonga among other districts.
