Mangochi Plans Peace Ahead of Election Case Verdict

Political party leaders in Machinga have agreed to work prevent conflict irrespective of the outcome of presidential election case pending verdict in the Constitutional Court.
President for a grouping of all political parties in Machinga, Yuda Phiri, says this was agreed at a peace building meeting the National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) convened on Wednesday.
"We have agreed that all parties give out violence-free information and improve on tolerance," says Phiri.
NICE trust civic education officer for central region, Christopher Naphiyo, says they have outlined peace building meetings.
"We are hopeful that peace building meetings with different leaders across the country will help overcome the growing lawlessness in the country," says Naphiyo.
The peace building meetings are targeting political, religious, traditional leaders and government officials.
Machinga district is one of the districts known for political and religious conflicts.
