Mulanje Senior Resident Magistrate’s Court has adjourned to 18 March hearing of a case where a man is accused of attempting to exhume body a boy with albinism.

According to Mulanje Police Station Prosecution Officer, Hartwell Kachikonga, the suspect, Tiyesi Chauluka was arrested following a tip from a Mozambican he approached to assist him in exhuming the body.

“Chauluka is answering a charge of trespassing on a burial place for extraction or exhumation contrary to Section 131 of the Penal Code,” said Kachikonga.

“Chauluka went to Mozambique where he approached somebody there to assist him in exhuming the body but the man informed his village head who tipped village headman Duguda of Malawi where the grave was tampered with,” said Kachikonga.

The two Mozambicans, the chief and the informant were on Thursday paraded in court as state witnesses.
