The ministry’s Director of Agriculture Research Services, Dr. Wilkson Makumba, told us cashiers are based at Bvumbwe Research Station and those willing to have the receipts are advised to collect the receipts at the research station.
"We have found that there is no any discrepancy taking place at Muloza border and what our officer there has been doing is just correct. We do not have cashiers at the border and we cannot allow him to issue general receipts," said Dr. Makumba.
For a long time, cross boarder traders in perishable goods have been accusing the agriculture office at Muloza Boarder Post of failing to issue them with GRs.
The traders claim they are forced to pay K15, 000 to the agriculture office without issuing them with receipts.
