Lightning kills 2, injures 3 in Mangochi

Two people of the same family have died while three have been seriously injured after being struck by lightning in Mangochi on Thursday evening.
Mangochi Police Deputy Spokesperson, Sub Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi, identified the deceased as two sisters Aisha Patrick 14, and Stella Mussa 20.
According Daudi, on Thursday evening, the victims were chatting on the veranda while it was raining and lightning struck all of them, two died on the spot while the other three were left with serious burn wounds.
She said they were all taken to Mulibwanji Community Hospital where the two were pronounced dead and the three have been admitted with burns.
Sub Inspector Tepani Daudi said Postmortem conducted at the same hospital revealed that death was due to cardiogenic electric shock.
Both deceased and victims are from Minyanga village in the area of
Traditional Authority Jalasi in the district.
