Police Urged to Avoid COVID-19

A senior nurse at Mulanje District Hospital on Thursday urged police officers and Community Police Forum to observe hygiene practices to avoid coronavirus.

She said hand washing and social distancing of more than one meter should also be encouraged.

Mulanje Police Officer- In-Charge, Assistant Commissioner Phillip Dinala, said “these measures have to be promoted in our work places and.”

He said this during a meeting where he called for collaboration in fighting against crime prevalence in the district.

He said this following a last quartet report which shows that crime rate increased by 30.3% with 529 cases registered as compared to 406 cases registered the same period last year.

Meanwhile, to motivate officers in police units, the station has introduced a monthly award which has since been scooped by Mathambi Police Unit who got a medal.
