COVID-19 Reports Scaring Health Workers
Director of Health and Social Services in Thyolo district, Dr. Arnold Jumbe, says reports that 10% of COVID-19 deaths involve health workers have instilled fear among health workers in the district.
Jumbe, however, says that aside, no any health worker has absconded work or threaten to stage a strike as is the case in other districts.
He said this on Friday when the health office received K13 million worth of aid for COVID-19 prevention from the Norwegian Church Aid (NCA).
Director of Planning and Development at Thyolo District Council, Morson Magombo said the Council has a K134 million COVID-19 Strategic Plan which awaits funding.
"We have already started sensitizing communities on coronavirus prevention while waiting for financial support from government," said Magombo.
NCA Project Officer responsible for COVID-19 Prevention and Response, Chifundo Chatchuka, said through Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) project it was noted that many girls and women are vulnerable to any disease outbreak.
