An international audit and accounting company, HLB Reliance Malawi, on Friday donated sanitary items to Mlambe hospital in Blantyre in its quest to fight Corona virus in the country.

The company’s partner, Maggie kasambara, says health of their clients is paramount, hence the effort to take part in the fight against the deadly virus.

“HLB employs a lot of young ones and we deal with a lot of clients. If we have a weak workforce, we cannot deliver and we cannot contribute to national development.

“Most of our offices around the globe have closed. Everyone is working from home. We know that if the virus infects someone with underlying issues, it gets fatal. We have been affected because we can’t meet our clients,’ she said.

The hospital’s chairperson, Elias Kambalame, said “to protect workers from the virus, we need personal protective equipment. People who come to be treated as well need to be protected from them; so it is mutual.

“The equipment we have received is very timely. The problem being that we don’t know how long the disease will last and the equipment whether it will last the next three months or so.

“As of now, this is very valuable and we thank very much HLB for coming to our rescue.”

Among the donated items are 10, 000 gloves, 160 liters of sanitizer and 250 masks; all worth about K2 million.
