A youth centered organization, VOICES, has repaired boreholes in Chikwawa district with a call to communities to adhere to good hygiene practices in the wake of COVID 19.

The organization's director, John Alufandika, told Zodiak on Tuesday morning that they drilled one borehole at Mwita village some months ago and have now repaired five nonfunctional boreholes around Dyeratu area in Katunga area.

He said it is his organization’s wish to see to it that every community has access to safe drinking water especially this time when the country is fighting to prevent the further spread of corona virus.

"We have managed to repair a few boreholes, five of them around Dyeratu with some support from an individual from Netherlands.

We therefore call upon other well-wishers to help us rehabilitate more boreholes and provide food to some vulnerable families especially this time when there are economic challenges caused by Corona virus," said Alufandika.

Village Headman Lauji 2 has commended VOICES organization for repairing their broken borehole.

"Over 400 people depend on this borehole. We greatly believe this support will help my subjects," said Village Headman Lauji 2.

Apart from VOICES organization, other well know organizations that have been supporting the fight against the spread of COVID 19 in the district are Malawi Red Cross, Goal Malawi and Eagles among others.
