People in the Lower shire have asked government to fast track the construction of the East Bank road and Ruo bridge to ease mobility challenges they are facing.

The chiefs and parliamentarians believe that once such projects are completed, will enhance trade and improving lives of rural communities.

They also asked for the urgent disbursement of MEDEF loans and providing food aid to hunger stricken households.

Muluzi who conducted the whistle rallies at Fatima in Nsanje, Livunzu, Maperera and Mfera in Chikwawa told the people that the Peter Mutharika regime will continue focusing on infrastructural development.

"The DPP/ UDF will see to it that various projects like construction of roads, hospitals, irrigation facilities and water supply are implemented," said Muluzi.

Muluzi then told the people to vote for Peter Mutharika during the forthcoming fresh presidential poll, saying Mutharika is a true democratic and development conscious leader.

He added that for the past 10 months, the President has demonstrated genuine leadership by protecting people who were conducting violent protests.
