Increasing cases of COVID-19 in the country have left Asian Business Community with no choice but to reintroduce a partial lock down.

Vice Chairman for the Community, Dr. Parth Patel, says the new directives are under the lock down which is effective Monday midnight.

Dr. Patel says the lockdown is in response to increasing cases of COVID-19.

In a letter co-signed by Dr. Patel, the Community says “it is mandatory to wear a face mask immediately when you are around people you do not live with and in public places.

“All domestic employees (high risk due to minibus travel) should be given face masks to be worn whilst performing duties in the home.

“Weddings and funerals will be allowed with a maximum of forty people. A fine of K1 million will be imposed on any person facilitating this gathering in breach of the number regulation.”

The Community has also advised people with underlying conditions to stay home and all community members to eat food that boost immunity.

Dr. Patel says the directives have been arrived at “after extensive discussions and deliberations with the medical professionals, community leaders and business captains.”
