Bodyguard of former president Peter Mutharika, Norman Chisale, has been granted bail by the high court in Blantyre.

Chisale was arrested on allegation that he intended to cause death of Sigele Amani on May 20 this year in Blantyre.

He has been ordered to pay K1 million bond, provide two blood relation sureties of K500 thousand each, surrender travel documents, report to Soche police once a fortnight on a Friday and notify Soche police when he wants to leave Blantyre.

Earlier on Monday before bail ruling, the Chief Resident Magistrate Simeon Mdeza committed the case to the high court.

Chisale was arrested on 17 July, 2020 in Lilongwe soon after granted bail in a money laundering and fraud case he is also answering.
