Two well-known organizations have rolled out a door to door campaign to dispel rumors that people cannot contract Covid 19 in hot weather.

The organizations are Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) and NICE Public Trust.

District Nice Public Trust Coordinator Joseph Chamambala told Zodiak on Thursday that are specifically dispelling rumors that people cannot catch  Corona virus in  hot weather.

"We are currently engaging various community structures like Village Development Committee and Area Development Committees to pass COVID 19 related messages.

“We are also using our volunteers to do door to door activities," said Chamambala.

On his part, Mavuto Kunkhoma from Malawi Red Cross has told us that Malawi Red Cross volunteers are sensitizing the people on the importance of sticking to prevention Measures including hand washing with soap, wearing masks and social distancing.

"We are integrating COVID 19 messages in our scaling up Nutrition project. We have distributed buckets, bicycles and masks with support from UNICEF," said Kunkhoma.

Chikwawa District Health Office Spokesperson Settie Piriminta has warned people to disregard such rumors saying covid 19 infects people in all weather conditions.

"It is very unfortunate to have such rumors. I urge people to follow the prevention Measures," said Piriminta.

Cumulatively, Chikwawa has registered 42 cases and all have recovered. The district has no active COVID 19 case.
