A 11-year old boy in Mangochi has died after being attacked by a Crocodile while swimming in Shire river on Monday.

Mangochi police station deputy publicist, Sub Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi, told Zodiak Online that the deceased, Stambuli Bamusi, met his fate at Silika fishing dock where his father was fishing.

“On this fateful day, the boy and his friends went swimming in the waters of Shire River where in the process the crocodile emerged from the waters, attacked and dragged him in deep waters,” Tepani Daudi said.

She said fishermen mobilized themselves, killed the crocodile and managed to rescue the teenager from the jaws of the crocodile, unfortunately he was already dead.

“The body had multiple wounds and postmortem conducted at Ulongwe Health Centre revealed that Bamusi died due to loss of blood,” explain Tepani Daudi.

Sub Inspector Tepani Daudi said as police they are advising the public to avoid visiting crocodile infested areas to avoid such incidences.

Stambuli Bamusi, was from Chisawa Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chimwala in the district.
