Since September, Malawi has been registering a decrease of new COVID-19 cases with some days registering a single digit.

On some days, the country registered zero case.

While this in fact is good news to celebrate, it has been observed that the number of recoveries is not pleasing as very few people are recovering from the pandemic.

In agreeing with the observation, Co-Chairperson of Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 Dr. John Phuka said health personnel have been struggling to trace some cases that do not give their contact numbers or provide wrong contact numbers.

“Stakeholders including those in all districts across the country are exploring ways of tracing all COVID-19 cases but as a nation we need to celebrate with reduced numbers of new COVID-19 cases, admissions and deaths due to COVID-19 but we should not relax in observing coronavirus preventive measures.

As of Thursday morning, Malawi had registered 5, 861 COVID-19 confirmed cases, 4, 757 recoveries, 922 active cases and 182 deaths.
