Senior Chief Chapananga of Chikwawa has indicated that the reconstruction which is underway on Chapananga bridge is a sign that the works were done in a haste manner.

The Chief told Zodiak on Monday evening that it is pathetic to do such an exercise in an eight month duration.

But the Chief said is optimistic that once the maintenance works are finished by Plem Construction Limited, the bridge will stand strong again.

"I am able to see progress. I hope things will be okay," said Senior Chief Chapananga in a telephone interview.

The Chiefs sentiments come when the social media has been awash with complaints that the much touted Chapananga bridge is substandard.
