Three alumni of Mulanje Vocational School for the Blind have sounded an SOS to the private sector and individuals of good will to construct a brick fence at the school.

The three, Fredrick Kanong’oza, Harold Mponya and Ernest Bashelo through a letter say absence of the fence has seen learners, staff and institution lose their property to thieves.

According to Kanong’oza, some female learners have been sexually harassed by unknown men passing within the school campus.

“There are about five pathways crisscrossing the school campus and we do not trust all people passing by the campus as we have been losing property mysteriously and female learners have been sexually harassed here,” said Kanong’oza.

Apart from the brick fence, Mponya said the school also needs a solar water pump and pit toilets to supplement water and internal toilets that are there.

The three alumni said they will send their request to various companies and individuals.

The three are teachers; Kanong’oza is a senior instructor at the same school, Mponya teaches at Chikwawa Secondary School while Bashelo is a teacher at Njedza Primary School in Mulanje district.
