MEC Spokesperson, Sangwani Mwafulirwa, says the law dictates that constituencies need to have almost equal numbers of registered voters.
"It is for this reason that MEC wants to conduct a demarcation of constituencies across the country to address the problems," said Mwafulirwa.
Mwafulirwa has since assured the citizens that the process will be transparent as all relevant stakeholders will be engaged.
Member of Parliament for Chikwawa Central, Salim Bagus, has commended MEC for making such a decision, saying this will help members of parliament to serve their people well as some constituencies are very big.
"This will enhance equal distribution of development projects in our areas," he said.
Currently, the country has 193 constituencies.
