Principal of the school, Adam Mlagha, says the school enrolls people with different degrees of visual impairments and different levels of education.

Said Mlagha; “due to lack of adequate school blocks as we have only two classrooms here, we mix all trainees in the two classrooms regardless of their degrees of visual impairments and different levels of education or understanding and this affects training of students.”

Meanwhile, Press Trust has committed K52 million for construction of one school block, rehabilitation of one school block and purchasing of braille embosser at school.

Press Trust Projects Manager Maliam Mdoko Kapyepye said the structures will be fully equipped with furniture and again the organization will buy beds and mattresses for a newly constructed hostel at the institution.

“Actually, supporting the health, education and social welfare sectors is our core business and we invest 50% of our annual incomes in various developments targeting the three sectors,” said Kapyepye.

Minister of Gender, Children, Community Development and Social Welfare Patricia Kaliati while thanking Press Trust for the gesture urged other organizations to bail out the school from myriads of challenges like lack of a brick fence.

“Let me also take this opportunity to ask parents and guardians to take their children to health facilities while young whenever they suspect some disabilities in them to access medical treatment and other services to avoid permanent deformities,” said Kaliati.

Press Trust has given the contractor, Clifton Civil and Building Contractors 15 months to construct the classroom and rehabilitate another.
