Neno South Constituency Parliamentarian, Mark Katsonga, has called for inclusion of persons with disability in COVID-19 interventions.

Katsonga said on Sunday that there is a need for government to provide both preventive materials and massages to the vulnerable.

He said this when he handed over wheelchairs to the physically challenged in the district.

"It's extremely dangerous to leave out the physically challenged in this fight against Covid-19. If they get infected it means all will be reinfected. So, we need to give them all means of travel and messages on Covid-19", he said.

"I must warn health officials and guardians against abuse of the physically challenged people during this period of Covid-19. My plea as well to guardians; don't abuse the donations, it's inhumane", he said.

Two recipients of the wheelchairs, Ronnex Chidothi of Daudi Village T/A Mlauli and Gift Sungeni of the area of Senior Chief Symon commended the lawmaker for the donation.

"Am happy now, for so long I have been looking forward to this day. Now it's possible to move around and even get Covid-19 messages easily," said Chidothi.

The wheelchairs will also go to other 80 physically challenged individuals in Neno South constituency after an assessment found out that a lot of them are failing to participate in development activities due to mobility challenges.
