Mulanje district is said to have registered seven COVID-19 positive cases after spending close to one month without registering any COVID-19 positive case.

District Medical Officer, Dr. Lloyd Njikho, says this calls for continued adherence to COVID-19 prevention measures.

He said this on Monday when Surveyors Institute of Malawi made a K2 million donation worth of COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment and other medical supplies to Mulanje District Hospital.

“We still need more PPEs and other medical supplies as you know most of them are not re-usable,” said Dr. Njikho.

President of the Institute, Alick Chirwa, said surveyors interact with different people in their work and as such they are also a risk society to COVID-19; hence, their support towards the fight against the pandemic.

“The surveyors made some contributions which amounted to K2 million and used this to buy the supplies,” said Chirwa.

The donated items included disposable face masks, aprons, and oxygen regulators.
