3 ESCOM Employees Die in Balaka Road Accident

Three Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) employees have died in Balaka after their vehicle overturned on Sunday at Chusoka area along Zalewa- Chingeni road.

Balaka Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Felix Misomali, says the three are Frank Chimlomo, 42, Ronex Nyirongo, 46 and Oscar Chaguluka, 32.

Inspector Misomali says the vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser pickup, Registration Number BY 8952, was heading to Chingeni direction from Zalewa, and Chimlomo who was on the wheels lost control of the vehicle which overturned several times.

"Following the impact, Chimlomo sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Balaka District Hospital while Nyirongo and Chaguluka who also sustained head injuries died whilst receiving treatment at the same hospital," says Misomali.

The late Chimlomo was from Mpana Village, Traditional Authority Phambala and Chaguluka was from Gata Village, Traditional Authority Makwangwala, both of Ntcheu district while Nyirongo hailed from Nthuthuwala Village, Traditional Authority Kawamba in Kasungu district.
