PAC Chairperson, Monsignor Father Patrick Thawale, told Zodiak on Wednesday that the law has to be applied equally to punish looters of government money.
“We are worried over increasing incidents of corruption and plunder of public funds. We think strengthening of rule of law can assist the country to wipe out such evil behaviors,” said Thawale.
The PAC chairperson is also of the view that citizens should be taught on the importance of owning and loving their country.
Monsignor Thawale added that for this to be achieved, there is need to spend a lot of time to teach people on the evil of corruption and stealing public money; consequently, creating a sense of restraining themselves form such malpractices.
His sentiments come when Malawi Police Service have started nabbing people suspected to have involved in the mismanagement of 6.2 billion kwacha meant for COVID 19 response.
Before this COVID 19 money plunder, the country experienced the infamous cash gate a few years ago where billions of taxpayers’ money was stolen.
