The Evangelical Association of Malawi (EAM) has expressed hope that the ‘Love Malawi Festival’ slated for early October this year will assist the country to promote unity and demonize corruption.

Prominent religious leaders gathered in Blantyre on Wednesday to announce the hosting of the festival planned to take place from October 1 to 3, 2021 at College of Medicine Sports Complex.

Speaking to the journalists, EAM General Secretary, Reverend Francis Mkandawire, is optimistic that the activity will assist more high-profile people to promote unity, love and curb corruption.

Mkandawire is of the view that there should be collaborative efforts to eliminate corruption.

“There are still some cases of corruption and disagreements among people in the country. There cannot be corruption if there is love, so let us preach love as the word of God commands us,” explained Mkandawire.

International Evangelist Andrew Palau thinks the festival provides opportunities to Malawi to preach peace and love.

“The festival is about expressing the love of Jesus. When Jesus transforms your life, everything becomes new as that love is extended to others. Come to the festival and see the beginning of change for you,” said Evangelist Palau

Other notable religious leaders that attended the news conference were Rev Billy Gama of the Blantyre Synod, Arch Bishop Mark Kambalazaza of the Charismatic Redeemed Church and Colonel Alfred Banda from Salvation Army.
