Mangochi Police Station Spokesperson, Sub Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi, has told Zodiak Online Monday that the incident is suspected to have occurred in the afternoon of August 7, 2021 in the area of Traditional Authority Chilipa.
"On the material day, one of the victim's relatives saw Chidzokombwe dragging and sneaking into the nearby bush with the victim," explained Tepani Daudi.
She added: "Being suspicious with the actions, the relative followed them in the bush where he caught the suspect red handed defiling the victim."
She said the matter was reported to Chilipa Police Unit where the victim was issued with a referral letter and results from Chilipa Health Centre confirmed the victim was defiled.
Tepani Daudi said the suspect will appear before court to answer the charge of defilement which contravenes Section 138 of the Penal Code.
According to Police, for the months of July and August 2021 alone they have already registered 9 cases compared to 8 which were recorded in the same period last year.
