The ministry of health has appealed to different stakeholders and Malawians to Join hands with the ministry and change mindset in adhering to covid-19 preventive measures ahead of the covid-19 fourth wave.

Public Relations Officer for the Ministry, Adrian Chikumbe, told Zodiak Online that people should not expect the ministry and health workers to be forcing people to adhere to measures to prevent the spread of the pandemic but every individual should realize the dangers of the pandemic.

“We try making sure we advise people what they are supposed to do, but then Covid-19 is not only the ministry of health alone, it needs a lot of players, a lot of stakeholders to take part.

“You don’t expect health workers, Doctors and nurses chasing people to put on masks. All we need is mindset change and people should not lie that they don’t know about covid-19,” Chikumbe said.

Meanwhile, health expert, Maziko Matemba has echoed Chikumbe, appealing to the public to adhere to covid-19 preventive measure in order to prevent the pandemic reaching the fourth wave.

“The wave comes in when the numbers of people being infected with covid-19 virus, people who are dying of the disease have increased than before, in other countries which have started registering the fourth wave of the pandemic means that their covid-19 figures have reached another level.

“As we are aware that Malawi, we are in the third wave but if we are not careful, we will now join other countries in the fourth wave. If indeed people are not responding to what health experts and authorities are telling us, we cannot run away from the fourth wave,” Matemba explained.

Some African Countries for instance South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and others in the continent and the globe have started registering the fourth wave of the pandemic.
