CHAM Migrating Payroll into Government System Next Month

Christian Health Association of Malawi (Cham) says it is finalizing processes to migrate its payroll into government’s Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS).

Spokesperson for CHAM, Michael Phiri, has told Zodiak Online Monday, CHAM health workers will be receiving salaries direct from the government coffers starting from next month.

Phiri says currently, CHAM health workers receive salaries through the secretariat.

He says this follows a successful joint head count exercise conducted by ministry of finance, health and CHAM to ascertain number of health workers.

“CHAM and ministry of health have agreed migrating its payroll next month; this means that salaries for our health workers will be accessed direct from government coffers”

Meanwhile, health rights activist, George Jobe who is also Executive Director for Malawi Health Equity Network (MHEN) has hailed the move, saying it will motive health workers since there will be no salary delays.

Jobe added that the migration will also help to flush out ghost workers from the system.

In 2020, concerned Cham health workers penned the secretariat to address salary delays and pension disparities with government health workers among others.
