In a bid to ensure that the citizenry is protected from Covid-19 pandemic and its health and economic implications, The Story-Workshop has resorted to using drama groups as a tool of wooing people to vaccine.

Speaking to Zodiak, Story-Workshop Monitoring and Evaluation officer, Dennis Sinchaya says since the roll out of Covid-19 vaccination campaign in the country, fewer people are showing interest to get vaccinated and adhere to preventive measures.

"Misconceptions and conspiracy theories are fueling the rise in numbers of people who are not willing to get vaccinated, adding use of mass media like mobile vans, public address systems and radio has not addressed people on the vaccines", says Sinchaya.

Sinchaya further says the use of theatre is providing to be ideal is addressing people's concerns since they are able to dialogue with the audience.

Neno Mission drama group member, Anorld Ben says they have managed to visit fifteen group village heads with Covid-19 vaccination messages and received overwhelming response.

"We have managed to address unfounded myths such as that if a pregnant woman gets vaccinated, it means the fetus and the woman will be lost and for men that they become impotent," said Ben.

Another member, Patricia Beleson commended Neno Cultural Theater for drilling them in drama performance saying they have managed to connect thirty-five people with health authorities for vaccination.

She further bemoaned long distance and lack of mobility as a minor setback to their efforts while thanking chiefs for being in the forefront encouraging their subjects to get a jab.

In Neno district, hospitals are offering both AstraZeneca, which is a two jab and Johnson and Johnson, which one takes it through a single jab.
