A surviving child of the family, Raheem Tepani says his parents went to Ntaja Health Center to seek medical attention with a two-year-old child but found the river flooded and still attempted to cross, leading to the tragedy.

Community policing member for the area, Frank Kalosi says they managed to recover the bodies of three after several attempts due to the current status of the river.

"It took us about 6 hours to recover the bodies, the water is just too much in the river, I hope our member of Parliament, Malume Bokosi is seeing what is happening," said Kalosi.

Meanwhile, Ward Councilor for the area, Jenas Makunganya says the death of the three is a wakeup call for them to construct a reliable bridge on the river.

"This is a great loss to the society, I will be talking to the member of Parliament for this area, for us to find ways of constructing a bridge on the river," said Makunganya.
