Delivery of quality education in Chiradzulu district is said to be greatly compromised due to inadequate classroom blocks, a development which has worried education authorities in the district.

This was disclosed on Saturday when Member of Parliament for Chiradzulu Central Constituency, Mactimes Malowa handed over two classroom blocks at Ngoleka Primary School in the district.

Director of Education Youth and sports for the District, Allani Machemba disclosed to Zodiak that the district requires about 1600 classroom blocks to carter for over one hundred thousand learners.

"At the moment we have a shortfall of about 400 classroom blocks. The situation is really bad as at the moment over one hundred learners are forced to learn in one classroom against the recommended 60 learners. The scenario is not conducive for learning especially now that we are talking about adhering to the COVID-19 preventive measures.

“We are therefore appealing to well-wishers to help government in constructing more classroom blocks so that our education standards should improve,” he said.

Malowa promised to construct more additional classroom blocks in his area.

The country envisions to have improved education standards through its 2063 agenda goal number 4.
